A Longing for Jesus

For those who don't know I was raised in a non religious home and it wasn't until my teen years that I began to get involved with church.  I stayed with the faith through most of my adult life.  One of the biggest things I miss about my time as a Christian was the belief that I was serving God and I made an effort to bring glory to God in everything I do.

I had a falling out with my church a few years ago when a friend of mine was injured while doing volunteer work for them.  Instead of behaving like I felt they should, they responded to his injuries the way a business would and that did not sit well with me.  So I quit going to church.  Of course you can't blame the actions of one single church and lay it at the footsteps of the whole faith, I just never quite got over it and did not seek out a new house of worship.

Two years later I became friends with a few atheists and began to take a look into the things I believed.  It was an intense traumatic experience for me as my faith was a central core of who I was.  Eventually I came out as an atheist.  I no longer believed in God.  About a year after that a bunch of people were posting their deconversion stories and I uploaded mine.  It was 54 minutes and it was very in depth.  I later took the video down as I did not want my video to be responsible for anyone else's separation from God.

In the years that followed I made several new friends as sadly most of my old Christian friends no longer came around.  I found organizations to help out such as Doctors Without Borders and for a while life was good.  However, I have been feeling as of late that there is a Christ centered hole in me.  There is something missing and I am confused on how to fill it.

Can I go back?  Returning to my Christian faith would be difficult for me as I feel I know too much.  I don't think I could sit through a lesson on Noah and the Ark, or Jonah, or any of the other acts of miracles from the Bible.  I don't think going to a liberal church, where they view things like creation as a parable, would work for me.  If I were to go I would have to go all in.  I don't know how to do that.

Part of me wants to believe in God and the Bible again, but I truly don't know how I could.  I don't know what the answers are.

Working on Holidays

Here in America we are getting ready for Thanksgiving.  Forget the vanilla retelling of the origin of this holiday, Thanksgiving is the celebration of gluttony.  In America you will also hear the term Black Friday, this refers to the sales that stores have the day after Thanksgiving that launches us into the Christmas shopping season.  It is named Black Friday because traditionally stores would operate in the red (debt) or close to it. The stores rely on the Christmas shopping season to make most of their profit.

Other traditions include rioting in stores as shoppers trample over each other to buy more stuff just hours after they spent the night listing the things they were thankful for.

#YesAllDaughters

Today in Norman Oklahoma students are walking out in silent protest against their school and how the school handled the bullying of rape victims.  First the facts, as they are at the time of this blog.

  1. The alleged rapes occurred off campus away from the school.
  2. The alleged rapist has not been charged or arrested by police, despite the incident happened two months ago.  Rather the investigation is still ongoing.
  3. The alleged rapist was suspended from school for passing around the video of the encounter
  4. At the time of the suspension only one victim was known, currently there are four.
  5. When the girls returned to school they were met at the door by their classmates taunting them.  At this time the school had no knowledge of the alleged rapes.
  6. Now that the other victims are known, they are cooperating fully with the police.
So my question is this.  Other than suspending the alleged student and fully cooperating with the police, what more could they have done.  They had no prior knowledge of the events, thus no way to foresee the bullying that happened to these young girls.  Maybe I just don't get it.  Why of all things do they protest a school that has done nothing wrong?

Regrets and what I would do different

In a few years I will be turning 40.  Looking back on my life I have regretted some decisions I made.  While I could blame my parents for some of the choices I made, I am not going to.  Instead I am going to accept full responsibility for who I am and where I am in life.

What is MGTOW and I can't be one

MGTOW stands for Men Going Their Own Way I will explain briefly what it is but first I wanted to point out two blogs I wrote on similar subjects.  The first is why I can not be a Men's Rights Activist

The second is why I as a man, can not be a feminist.

I would encourage you to read both blog posts prior to this one.  Clicking on either one of them will open up a new tab.  Then you can come back here to finish this post.

Bill Cosby and the rape claims

I'm sure everyone knows who Bill Cosby is, he is a legend in stand up comedy, capable of turning 20 minutes of material into an hour all while keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.  He has had great success in television most notably with the Cosby Show, which was based off his comedy act:  Bill Cosby, Himself.  He has not been as successful in movies as many of his projects bombed at the box office.  He broke the racial barrier in the 80's and brought a black family to prime time television that is still in syndication.

In more recent years he has been a vocal critic of how black youth conduct themself and how the thug life is celebrated in the media.  He was a pitch man, earning him the nickname Shill Cosby, as he was the face for companies such as Coke and Jello.

However, in the past decade starting with 2005, women began to come forward accusing Cosby of rape. There are a few important facts to remember.  First, no criminal charges have ever been brought against Dr. Cosby.  None.  Although one person did report a rape to the police, she waited far too long, a year, and as such blood tests, or unite tests for drugs.  Second, rape is the forceful penetration of another against their will or consent.  That definition is key.  Rape is not two people getting plastered at a party and hooking up and then regretting that decision the next day.  However, this is not what Dr. Cosby is accused of doing.

Robert R Jennings and the Unnecessary Apology

The story begins with Robert R Jennings President of Lincoln University, a Black University, giving a 26 minute speech at a Women's Convocation in September.  Only now in November has a 4 minute clip of the speech come to light.  From the looks of it, someone in the audience smuggled a potato into the auditorium and recorded this speech.  At the time of this post, no video of the full 26 minutes exists.

At the time of this blog there are 227 comments and about 30,000 views.  Most of the comments side with President Jennings and a few take issue with the title of the video.  Essentially the tl;dr version of the 4 minute speech is this.

Chris Hayes of MSNBC Did WHAT?

I was going through my twitter feed last night when I stumbled upon some tweets about MSNBC having someone from the KKK on discussing the possible looting of Ferguson and the St Louis Area.  At first I thought this was an exaggeration.  Someone was simply over reacting to some white guy and accusing him of being from the Klan.  Still I was curious.  So I went to MSNBC and holy smurf they actually had someone from the KKK discussing racial tension in Ferguson.

Sexy vs Who I Want To Have Sex With

A few moments ago I was in a twitter exchange with a lady named @AddieJuniper quite a nice lady and fun to interact with.  She also produces content for Clips4Sale.  Below is her picture.

As you can see she is rather petite and has that girl next door type look.  Recently she posted on twitter that she is considering implants.  As of this post everyone is telling her that they prefer her the way she is. Implants do serve their purpose, such as reconstructive surgery, or after drastic weight loss.  However, on the whole, most women don't need them and a large group of men would prefer that women stay natural.

What Republican's should do now

Republican's have won big.  They gained seats in the House, taken control of the Senate and won big in Governor's races.  Another big winner was women, so much for the war on women attack that the Democrats tried to label the Republican's with.

Republican's have two paths to take, they can block the President, or work with him.  I hope that they will follow the path that Newt Gingrich took when they ran on the Contract With America.  The exit polls were clear, American's don't approve of Obama and want change.

Why I voted Republican in 2014

Every now and then I like to thin out the herd.  Usually the best time to do this is on election day.  In times past I have voted for Democrats, in the last election I voted Republican and will do the same this time around.  As such my twitter following took a hit.  Not a huge one, but still noticable.

There are many people I follow on twitter that I disagree with, but I follow them simply because I like them. I don't have to agree with someone to like them.  Sadly this is not the case with everyone.  To those who do follow me on twitter I thank you.
